The #1 Home organzing Tip Revealed

"What is your #1 home organizing tip?"...I hear that question over and over. My answer however never changes. The best tip is to keep it simple.

We live in a society where literally more is more. More clothes, more toys, larger houses, bigger kitchens...the list goes on and on. Even though our spaces in general have grown we seem to be more disorganized then ever.

So, to break down this home organizing tip into stages that you can follow I have broken up the most disorganized places in the home and addressed each one separately. Home organizing tip for the Kitchen.

If it is any room in the house that has received more attention in the last 10 years it has been kitchens. Some of these spaces have just exploded with new energy saving appliances, cabinets that look like furniture, and spaces that rival large fields. In spite of this however, kitchen are one of the most cluttered spaces.

The key to keeping this space organized is having a designated "landing area" when you come in your home. Most items from mail to coats to purses end up in the kitchen as it is sometimes the first room you either enter or go to when you come home.

So, make sure you have a mail area, kid area for coats and backpacks, and message or communication area so everyone in the family can track what is happening on a daily basis. This way all of those items will have a home and not end up scattered on the kitchen chairs, table and countertop.

My best organizing tip also includes editing your appliances. "Do you really need a waffle maker, 2 kinds of mixers, 6 large mixing spoons?" Most professional chefs agree that the quality of the tools you use are more important than the quantity. So, if you are not an avid baker or cook keep these itmes to just the essentials.

Home organizing tip for the bedroom - Edit, edit, and then well...edit again. Years ago peope had one outfit that they considered their dress outfit for church or formal gatherings. These days most peoples closets are bursting at the seems. In spite of all of the clothes you posses you will probably still find yourself living by the 80/20 rule. Meaning you probably wear 20 percent of your clothes 80 percent of the time.

Ask yourself "Do you really need that t-shirt in 8 colors?" If you decide to buy something always promise yourself to get rid of one item that your haven't worn in the last 6 months and donate it. Also go through your closet yearly and get rid of any items that are in disrepair.

Home organizing tip for the garage - If you are lucky enough to have a garage you know how difficult it can be to organize. Many items that have no place in the home end up in this space even though technically it is not considered garage material. But it is really inexpensive to organize your garage using organizing materials from your local hardware store.

The key is to get as many items off the floor as possible. That allows you to clean the floor on a regular basis which makes your garage look neater and also prevent you from tracking even more dirt into your home.

Home organizing tip for the Playroom - Playrooms are a hot topic for anyone who has kids. The complaints are many - the toys are everwhere, there is no place to put them, it isn't functional. I reccomend following the lead from daycare facilities.

If you have a playroom divide it up into zones such as reading, arts and crafts, and electronics. Also, don't make all toys accessible at one time. Most younger children will pull out every toy if you let them. Rotate toys and as soon as your child outgrows a toy donate it or wait and have a yard sale in your community.

The key to my home organizing tip is still to edit down you belongings. It will make your home more livable, enjoyable and peaceful place for everyone.
